Citrine, the Birthstone of November

The month of November has two unique Birthstones, Topaz and Citrine.

The common Citrine Gemstone today on the market, is a heat-treated Amethyst Gemstone.

Majority of the time it is not easy to recognise a Natural Citrine Gemstone, but it is relatively easy to see if the so-called Citrine Gemstone is a modified Amethyst Gemstone.

To produce a lab created Citrine Gemstone, an Amethyst or a Smokey Quartz Crystal is heat treated to the point the colour begins to change to a deep, orange, yellow or red.

A natural stone, has a gentle yellow – green colour hues and is considered to be very rare to find.
